The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is sharing a policy paper outlining the proposed direction for modernizing Canada’s seed regulatory framework. This is the final informal consultation on Parts I, III, and IV of the Seeds Regulations before the draft amendments are published in Canada Gazette, Part I for public comment.

The proposed direction reflects feedback gathered throughout the Seed Regulatory Modernization (Seed-RM) initiative and is guided by the following goals:

• Reducing red tape and administrative burden
• Supporting marketplace competitiveness and innovation
• Protecting farmers, consumers, and the environment
